Liverpool has made a huge splash in the summer transfer market. While signing new stars, the club is also set to achieve major success with high-value player sales. The English giants have agreed to transfer Colombian winger Luis Díaz to Bayern Munich for a fee of €75 million (about ₹1,075 crore).
Díaz was brought in from Portuguese club FC Porto in January 2022 for £37.5 million (roughly ₹645 crore). In just three years, Liverpool is selling him at nearly double the price.
The Colombian played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s Premier League title win last season. With 17 goals across all competitions, he cemented his place in Arne Slot’s attacking lineup.
Rumors of his potential departure had circulated since the beginning of the summer window. According to ESPN, Bayern initially offered €67.5 million earlier in July, which Liverpool declined—but eventually accepted the final €75 million offer.
Reportedly, Liverpool tried twice to extend Díaz’s contract, but couldn’t reach an agreement due to differences in expectations. His departure became only a matter of time.
This transfer will help Liverpool offset some of the financial burden of its summer spending spree—having already spent around £290 million (₹4,751 crore) to bring in Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, and Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Just as his signing was a successful move three years ago, Díaz’s exit now appears to be another smart business decision for the Reds. All eyes will be on how this Colombian star shines in the Bayern jersey.
